Landscape

"Cold and Gloomy"

ARTIST STATEMENT

I took so many pictures of this piece of farm equipment. I felt like something, some object needed to be in my landscape to make it look interesting rather than just land. I had to go on someone's property to take this, they weren't that pleased, but what had to be done had to be done. I think the rule of thirds in the shot is beautiful. You can see all the openness of the field to the left and still see the equipment to break up the blandness. You can also see far distance and what I'd argue as low horizon line. I like how the trees in the background sort of lead to a point at the back of the field, a good focal point. I would have liked the sky to not be so overcast, but I did what I could with what I had and I think it turned out pretty well. The equipment was a lot more green in real life and I tried my best to translate that into the image and afterword with editing, but I could only do so much.
