Texture

Bricks

For this image I changed it to black & white to really show the cracks in the bricks so the viewer could see the texture.

Newspaper Basket

I enhanced the color and made this image a little bit darker so you can see enough of the color, but also get a good view of the depth through shadows.

Carrots and Strawberries

I brightened this picture and turned the color up a bit to really make the subject pop and allow a good visual on the seeds from the strawberries.

Stained Glass

I did with this picture what I did with the newspaper basket, I made it a little bit darker to show the shadows and enhanced the color a little bit.

Wall Mask

This wall mask just screams texture and I tied to show it as much as I could by darkening the image a bit and turning up the saturation.

Peppers

I really didn't have to change much because these peppers were very naturally bright. I only enhanced the brightness a slight amount.

Leaves on the Tree

I changed the image to black & white so the lines on the leaf could be seen well by the viewer. The leaves also weren't that colorful to begin with so enhancing that didn't make it any more appealing.

Leaf on the Ground

This leaf's color was turned up and brightness just a little bit to make it pop in the viewers eyes.

Bench Seat

This is a piano seat at my house and it has an amazing pattern on it that I thought could be shown the best through black & white.

Corner Plant

For this image I turned the color up a bit and made the image darker so the viewer could see the lines on the leaves better.

ARTIST STATEMENT

For this assignment I found endless examples of line, texture, and pattern just around my house, I had to look no further. Throughout all of these images I edited them with the goal of showing the most texture I could which involved finding the right balance of darkening and brightening the images.
