The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2nd as World Autism Awareness Day (A/RES/62/139) to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can live full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society. They highlight equal rights for all, including those who are neurodivergent witch means a person that refers to a person on the autism spectrum or, more generally, to someone whose brain processes information in a way that is not typical of most individuals, or  have physical disabilities, or also have developmental disabilities like autism. This is why the UN promotes and supports World Autism Day. The message that Autism Day brings is to Pledge your support to act fearlessly for change for a more accepting and inclusive world for people with autism.

Ever since the United Nations General Assembly designated 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) in 2007, the United Nations has observed the day as a means to affirm and promote the full realization of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for autistic people on an equal basis with others.Awareness Day (A/RES/62/139) to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism so they can lead full and meaningful lives as an integral part of society.

And why their “Light it Up Blue” campaign calls for people to wear blue to promote autism awareness. Blue is also the organization's primary color, and is associated with a calm feeling and acceptance in an otherwise loud and busy world for people on the spectrum. And why is the color for Autism “Blue” well on its own, blue often symbolizes Autism Awareness Day, which is the second of April. On this day, there will be plenty of blue ribbons and various other symbols with the color, typically in therapy centers, hospitals, and even schools. It is often used to symbolize support for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. The choice of blue as the primary color for autism awareness can be traced back to the Autism Speaks organization, which adopted blue as their signature color.

Restricted Repetitive and Stereotyped Patterns of Behavior, Interests, and Activities. Although people with ASD may enjoy the same activities as typical same-age peers, the intensity and focus of their interests may differ. The History of World Autism Day highlights equal rights for all, including those who are neurodivergent, have physical disabilities, or have developmental disabilities like autism. This is why the UN promotes and supports World Autism Day.
