Spring Sports Recap Edgewood Vs. OV

By: Lilly Rayl       5/15/24

Edgewood and Owen Valley have fought hard this spring season but with baseball and softball combined A/8th grade teams have won 2 of their 4 total games and B/7th grade teams have won all games. Both girls and boys have played OV twice. Coaches for the softball team are Mrs. Ayer and Ms. Schooling. Mr. Sieglin, the baseball coach, stated “ The season has had its ups and downs, but when we play a complete game (hitting, fielding, and pitching), there are very few teams that can compete with the talent we put on the field.”

Our Edgewood baseball team has played OV twice this season. The 7th grade team got wins at both games, on Monday, April 15th they won 5-0 with Cooper Myers and Jonah Siegelin pitching, getting a combined no-hitter. The 8th grade team also got a win of 2-0. The only 2 runs of the game were by Nash Waterford when he hit a homerun. The score for the second game was 7-6 for 7th grade and 3-5 for 8th grade, this being their first loss in 2 seasons.

The EJHS softball has gone up against OV two times so far this season. During the game on April 24th, the A team secured a win and the B team battled it out and also came out with a win of one point. The A team had a 13-1 win and the B team won with a score of 20-19! Khloee Wykoff and Averi Krebbs pitched for the B team and did an amazing job, all of our players made it on base and scored. At the game on Tuesday, April 30th the girls went to OV and battled hard, and the B team came home with an amazing win while the A team lost by 1 point. The A team had a score of 2-3 and the B team with a whopping 15-3. Braylin Bentley, a 7th grader, pitched for the A team and got 8 strikeouts.

When we play or go up against OV no matter how big the win is, it feels good to have one. There are no more games against OV this year, but there will be next year so get ready to show your Edgewood pride and cheer on our teams!`
