Football Season

We're coming close to the end of the school year wich means football season is right around the corner. The Schedule for tryouts is not posted yet. The students that make the team will practice all summer and do training with the Horsepower club. They will also practice after school next school year. The games will begin in late August and run thru the end of September or even into October. The schedule isn’t listed yet but they will probably play 8 or so games in the season. About half with be home games. There can be 11 people from your team playing at once on the field. 2 people that are going to try out for the football team are Jack Grubaugh, and Aiden Williamson. The school football teams are for 7th and 8th graders only.

Football fields have 100 yards with an endzone at each end.

The Edgewood High School football team is getting a new football coach for the 2023-2024 season. His name is Coach Fischer. He has experience as an Assistant Coach at Bishop Chatard High School, Warren Central High School, and Lawrence Central High School. Coach Fischer earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education at Indiana University, and Purdue University in Indianapolis, and his Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from the University of Indianapolis.

The at home games will be on the football field by the Edgewood High School. They will have the concession stand open. Last year they even brought in Chic-Fil-A sandwiches at a couple of the games. They also sell stuff like candy, soda, gatorade, popsicles, popcorn, and chips. If you want to go to the games, they are $2 for students but you can also get in free if you wear Edgewood apparel or dress for spirit day.

Most of the time they play two games each night unless the other school doesn't have enough players. When that happens then each team only plays for half of the game. 6th grader Aiden Williamson is very excited about the new season. Aiden says, “I'm very excited about the new football season because I think I'm going to be a good team leader and quarterback for the team.” As you can tell Adien is super excited about the new football season.
