Softball Wrap Up

By: Kierston Walker Date 05/16/24

Have you been to an EJHS softball game this year? Well if you haven't you might want to soon. As you may have known softballs wrapping up in a few weeks and the team only has a few games left. Many people play for our middle school softball team they have had some well-played games recently.

Our coaches work for our school. Mrs. Ayer is one of our two softball coaches and she works at Edgewood as an ELA teacher she also teaches journalism. Our other coach is Mrs. Schooling and she works here at Edgewood as a social studies teacher, and she teaches current events but might not be doing it next year. I asked Coach Ayer if she was going to coach next year and she said  "Five years and yes I love being with the girls and I love softball. "

Many sixth seventh and eighth graders play for our softball team players like Kloee Wykoff Baylee Clark, Laina Chandler, Story Heckman, Braylin Bentley, and more. But those are only some of our sixth and seventh-grade softball players. These sixth, seventh, and eighth graders have an exciting few games left and are mostly all away games.

But just because you play for our Edgewood softball team doesn't mean you can't play for other teams or do other sports. Players like Khloee Wykoff have played for more teams than one at a time. Khloee Wykoff has played for the team Hit Dogs Travel team and she has also played rec ball. You can play for many teams when you're on the Edgewood junior high school team.

A few nights ago on 05/15/24, we played against the Bloomington Catz. Edgewood fought hard and came up with a score of 8-4 for the A team and a score of 4-3 for the B team. Braylin Bentley pitched 5 innings with 4 strikeouts and only gave up 2 hits. The Edgewood Junior High School played a good game for the team only having a few left. I hope you all enjoyed the season and watching our softball girls play rough and fight hard!
