Recap of 23-2024 Cheer season

¨ Let's go colts”. Here at EJHS, we honor our cheer team, it takes pride, joy, and spirit to make it on this tough team! The Edgewood cheer team had an amazing 23-24 season. The team had one away game last season at our rival school, Owen Valley.
A couple of highlights of the season are when the team went to cheer camp and won the banana which is a very prized possession at cheer camp and all teams try to get the banana. To be rewarded with the banana you have to be smiley, show lots of energy, and be loud too.
The cheer team cheers for both football and basketball. The cheer team also cheers for girls and boys during basketball season. Edgewood has amazing sports teams, for example, our 8th grade football team last year won the grand championship for all Monroe County school districts. The cheer team was very spirited and proud of our Edgewood Colts basketball team fighting for that tough win!
If you try out for cheerleading, you might be a little surprised by the prices for the accessories. For cheer camp, it's around $400-500 dollars just to go spend a couple of nights in the IU University Dorms. Second of all, cheer shoes are $125, and poms are $25 but since we have to have 2 pairs of poms, it's double the price. Cheer camp is around 3-4 days of 14 hours of cheering nonstop.“I love to cheer because the team is so welcoming and I love to cheer with my friends” said Allison Terrell a 6th grader on the team last year. The first day is when you learn everything, and the second day you practice everything for the competition on day 3/4!
Overall, the Edgewood Colts Cheer team had an amazing 2023-2024 cheer season with all of these highlights and all of the ups and downs throughout the season but with the team's effort, they all got through them together!
