Top 3 National Parks in Indinana

The end of the year is right around the corner and you might just be wondering what you will do over the break. However, you don’t need to worry because there are some amazing national parks in Indiana to visit this summer in the great outdoors with your family and friends.

Firstly, we have the Dunes National Park stretching over 15 miles of the southern shore of Lake Michigan. This place is special because of its flora and bird species with more than 1,100 species, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in the United States. Some stuff you can do at the dunes is hiking on the sandy dunes, through the Forest, and the peaceful wetlands. The dunes even allow you to bring man’s best friend along. This park is a must-see for people who love being outside and enjoying what it offers.

Secondly, we have the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial in Spencer, Indiana. This park commemorates the childhood of Abraham Lincoln; the 16th president of the United States. The park has places like the cemetery, where Lincoln’s mother was buried. They even have a recreation of the farm Abraham Lincoln's father built.  Another location you can visit is the Lincoln Spring, which was only used by their family and was an important piece of land for Thomas Lincoln because of his struggle for his family to have land and a life for themselves. This place is perfect for people who love to learn history and go outside.

Thirdly, we have the Hemlock Cliffs, a hiking trail stretching 1.9 miles in length. It is a box canyon with many sandstone rock formations and seasonal waterfalls around the area. Excavation found native american areas, over 10,000 years ago. Some of the trails can be dangerous when wet or when they are steep in certain regions. There are also a variety of interesting plants and other species here. Hemlock, a tall evergreen tree grows, while a scarce plant, called Wintergreen grows at Hemlock Cliffs. French’s shooting star, wild geranium, mountain laurel, and liverwort are some other plants here.

These are 3 amazing national parks you can go to this summer in Indiana, but there are many other national parks across the US, viable for tourists.  So maybe you will go on a walk in the Grand Canyon, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, or getting wet in Niagara Falls.
