Mr. C's candy bucket

date:11-13-23

Walking into class and seeing a substitute can put multiple thoughts into your mind. Is this sub nice? Will they help me with my work? What if I don’t know something about them? Well here is everything you need to know about Mr. Clemmens, a sub who makes his way around all of your favorite classes.

Mr. C started teaching only last year when he was 55 years old. He started because he found love in working with younger people and relates to them very well. He worked in sales for most of his career lasting 25 years. Even though he is a new sub he is still loved by many. Madie Shaw said, “My two favorite parts are he doesn’t talk a lot and he helps me focus.” Before we had him as a great sub, his son subbed at the EIS and helped with fundraisers. He had a very short start but he will grow to be many kids favorites.

Currently, Mr. C is subbing around all different classes at EJHS. So far his favorite class to sub is math. Mr. C says, “My favorite class to sub is math because I get to see that click in their brains.”  On average Mr. C subs 75-100 days a school year.  He said that his advice for new subs is, “Have a lot of patience, you have to be open minded and be willing to jump all the way in.” Mr. C is mostly known for handing out candy to the kids. He passes it out to motivate the kids to do their work.

The future is unknown but Mr. C said that he could sub even more years, so you may luck out and get him in a few years. Mr. C also said that if he had to do a different job that he would go back to sales, so if he had to stop subbing you could find him in a sales position.

In conclusion Mr. Clemmens is a great sub at EJHS. He makes rounds to all the classes to make you happy all the time. He may not have subbed for as long as your other substitutes but he still made his way up to the top to be featured in many things. Seeing him in your next class makes plenty of kids celebrate so before you think subs won’t understand you, take a good look at Mr. C
