6th Grade Resource Teacher: Mr. Dixon

Mr. Dixon is a 26 year old teacher that has worked at Edgewood Junior High School for 5 years. According to Dixon, he likes to teach at Edgewood because it is a fun time working with students and teachers alike.  "It is nice to see students coming from the other school, learning how to be middle schoolers." He is also planning to retire in 35 years or when he feels like he should stop with it. Dixon very much enjoys teaching and helping students be problem solvers and rise above challenges.


Mr. Dixon attended college at the University of Indianapolis and earned his degree in Elementary Education.  This means that he can teach any grade first to sixth.  Dixon is also attending graduate school through the University of Indianapolis to earn a Masters Degree in Special Education Leadership and Administration. 

There is more to Mr. Dixon that just being a teacher thought!  After school,  he exercises at a gym, goes home and plays with his cats, does some yard work and watches a comedy movie. Mr. Dixon's favorite movie is called KIcking & Screaming. Mr. Dixon also enjoys playing Pickleball, tennis, kayaking, hiking, and pretty much anything sport related. His favorite sports teams are the Indiana Pacers and for college sports, he likes to watch Duke and IU basketball. Before becoming a teacher he had wanted to do something outdoors, such as working at a landscaping company or working as a park ranger. 

Other interesting facts about Mr. Dixon include his favorite color is beige, he has two cats, Remy and Dot, and his favoriteNow let's move on to questions that you would like to ask a person when you first meet them. What is Mr. Dixon's favorite color? It actually is a color I have never heard of called Beige. Do you have any pets, Mr. Dixon has two cats named names. What is your favorite food to eat? Mr. Dixon likes to eat Chicken Fajitas. Has he also done any other classes other than resource which is what he teaches here at edgewood. He has not taught any other classes other than resource class, but he has my teaching degree in elementary education, so he can teach any subject between grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Does he have any family? He has a wife who teaches 5th grade language arts at EIS. They have two cats named Remy and Dot. He also has a brother and a sister who now live in Chicago, Illinois. My brother is a lawyer and his sister is an accountant.
