6th grade basketball has started with the A and B teams having almost four games straight without a break. Our first game was an away game against Orleans which the B-Team lost 20-23 and A-Team came away with a 29-16 win.

The next game day the teams played Indian Creek, both A and B team won B-Team 27-19 and A-Team 35-22.

The B-team ended up losing after a well fought game against the St. Charles Hawks 24-31,B team player Tyler Heidenreich said a strength that his team had during the game was rebounding, the team had an outstanding rebound performance but a weakness that led the team to a loss was Tyler said that their shots were not falling. A team won against St. Charles 39-33 kept the lead the entire game pushing every attack.

The teams played at North Clay January 10, A-Team lost but B won. A-Team could not get past the 3-2 defense of North Clay and came up short of winning the game. Although the A-Team lost, the B-Team easily won their game, dominating fiercely. Kenzo Frankie says after his miracle half court shot, “I did not know if I was going to get the shot off in time or if I was going to make it or if it was going in or missing.” Ryker Priest says the strongest thing about the b-team is the intensity and something that they need to work on boxing out to get more rebounds. Coach Ken Grile says that he thinks the team would get better if they got as much game experience as possible that could be games with friends, scrimmages, or maybe even getting in separate leagues for more game experience, which helps the game slow down so the game gets easier.

In this upcoming tournament on Saturday, January 20 the A-team only, will play in a tournament in Bloomfield, IN. Tyler Wadsworth says to win this upcoming tournament we will need to have good offense, defense, and we will need to play together with good chemistry and teamwork. He says a specific play that the A-Team needs to run in order to get some good points on the board is 33 and Stanford for Eric.

The A and B team have done great through the season and hope to continue it from here all the way to highschool! We welcome you to please come to our games whenever you can in the main Gym!
