Percy Jackson: The Chalice of the Gods

Splash! The son of Posiedon is back in action in the most recent book in the Percy Jackson series. Trying to get into college is a hard task for a demigod. Percy wants to get into New Rome University. He has to get three letters of recommendation from three different gods, and to do so he has to go on quests for them. And one thing’s for sure..They won’t be easy!

In this book, Annabeth and Grover join Percy on his quest, just like old times. There is a Nereid (a water spirit) named Eudora who is trying to help Percy as well( by constantly flushing him down her blue toilet chairs), sent by Poseidon, Percy’s father.

This strange quest is for Ganymede, cupbearer to the gods. Ganymede needs his special cup back in time for whatever feast or celebration Zeus dreams up. This special cup can grant immortality to anyone who drinks from it. Along the road of the quest, Percy and friends meet other gods and goddesses, and travel to places all over New York City, looking for help. In the end, they find someone using the alias of “Gary”, and eventually they get Ganymede’s cup back to Olympus before it was needed.

The Chalice of the Gods is only the most recent of the Percy Jackson series, which includes The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian, courtesy of Rick Riordan. Riordan has made many different book series similar to Percy Jackson, like The Heroes of Olympus, The Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard.

The fact that in this book, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover get only one out of three recommendation letters shows that it is likely that there will be at least two more books for two more recommendation letters, and probably more books about Percy and Annabeth in college.

Spoiler alert! If you do not want to know some details, do not go further! If you do want the details, then please continue! “Gary” is the god of old age, Geras. Percy meets Iris, Hebe, and Acheron on his quest. Oh, and the trio of heroes get turned into little kids. Have fun reading!
