New Female Albums: What To Listen For!

You may have heard about some songs on Beyonce’s new album, “Cowboy Carter”, but I am here to tell you a little bit more about it! The most popular song on “Cowboy Carter” is “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM”, which in the United States topped the Billboard Top 100 becoming Beyoncé's ninth solo number one single!  The song now has over 29 million views since it came out on February 11th. Many people wrote the songs on “Cowboy Carter”, but one of the main ones is Lennon–McCartney. Information on if she is going on a tour with her new album is not being shared right now. NPR states “Beyoncé's new album is inspired by backlash to her entering the country music genre.” Not only did Beyoncé sing on this amazing album, but on her song, “Levi's Jeans”, Post Malone is featured as well as Miley Cyrus on, “II Most Wanted”. 

Another album that has been out for a bit that you might have heard of is “Eternal Sunshine;” Ariana Grande’s most recent album. Some of the top hits on “Eternal Sunshine” are “yes, and?” and “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” The reasoning behind the release of “Eternal Sunshine” is a result of her personal life experiences, as well as entertainment. The album has reached number 1 on charts, with 400 million streams on Spotify, becoming Ariana Grande’s 7th album to reach this. It's the 4th most streamed female album of 2024 so far! While Grande sang the songs, the album itself was produced by Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh,Oscar Görres, and many more. Ariana plans on going on tour for “Eternal Sunshine,” but in an interview stated that she enjoyed going on tour for multiple albums at once, so she plans on waiting until her next album releases to go on tour. “Eternal Sunshine” does not feature any guest artists, but features spoken words from Ariana’s grandmother, Marjorie Grande, on "Ordinary Things" and astrologer Diana Garland on "Saturn Returns Interlude".

On April 19th Taylor Swift released her 11th album titled, “The Tortured Poets Department", which was very anticipated by “Swifties”. Swift announced the release of her 11th studio album at the 2024 Grammys, when she won the 13th Grammy of her career. The album got released at midnight, but then at 2:00am a secondary album that still connects to “The Tortured Poets Department” got released called, “The Anthology”. There are now a total of 31 songs on the album, a majority of them being about Joe Alwyn who is a guy she dated for 6 years. CNET states that Swift posted on Instagram saying, “I'd written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here's the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn't mine anymore… it's all yours." This album was the most pre-saved album in Spotify history, as well as being the most streamed album within the first 12 hours of being released. Needless to say, Swift really surprised everybody with the bonus album!
