WARNING - THIS ARTICLE MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS ON PAST HUNGER GAMES MOVIES! AND SLIGHT SPOILERS ON NEW HUNGER GAME MOVIE!

The Hunger Games is a classic movie series about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who was put into an arena with 23 other kids who were all supposed to fight to the death until 1 remained. You may be wondering who and why they would make so many kids fight. Luckily they made a prequel called The Hunger Games and the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that will explain it all.

The original movies star Katniss Everdeen (The Girl on Fire), while The newest Hunger Games stars Lucy Gray and the younger President Snow. While the original movies stars Katniss, President Snow still plays a major role in it. In the original movies President Snow is unliked by the kids who compete in the Hunger Games, and almost everyone in the districts. In the new movie Snow falls in love and has friends, but quickly loses them because he simply fails to put others first in the later part of the movie.

In the new Hunger Games people gain/lose friendships, fall in love, kill, and do what they can to survive and live a successful life. In the movie Snow was friends with Sejanus Plinth, who died soon after Snow betrayed him. In other words he threw his own friend under the bus so he had a better chance of a good life. Snow also falls in love with Lucy Gray, but towards the end of the movie he shoots at her, and forever loses her trust.

Throughout the movie Snow struggles to stay good, as Snow’s cousin Tigeres says, “You know when you’ve stepped across the line into evil, and it’s your life’s challenge to try and stay on the right side of that line.” This really goes into play throughout this movie. Snow kills 4 people in just this one movie, and many people are wondering whether or not he killed a 5th person known as Lucy Gray.

This is such a good prequel with so much happening that I can’t cover it all, that’s why if you are interested in this movie I think you should watch the first movie, then go from there. If you watch it with your family or friends you could have a good time trying to figure out all the mysteries included in the movie. Like what happened to Lucy Gray…
