What do you think of the solar eclipse? And some people ask what a Solar Eclipse is. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting a shadow on Earth that either fully or partially blocks the Sun's light in some areas. This only happens occasionally, because the Moon doesn't orbit in the exact same plane as the Sun and Earth. We think that the eclipse was cool and made a lot of great memories with family and friends.

Some people think how often eclipses happen, well a  solar eclipse happens about twice a year, said Arav. "Eclipses happen all over the Earth evenly," he told CBS News — but noted the timings when they occur are not regular.A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, blocking our view of the sun as it passes. It's called a total solar eclipse when the moon completely blocks the light of the sun.Aubree Lily a 6th Grader at EJHS said this, “ I thought the Solar Eclipse was cool and it was really fun too.  These events are rare, when they are total and also they can only be viewed in  different specific areas for short periods of time. Lilly Stapleton, a 6th grader at EJHS said “ I liked the eclipses because it was black and it might be the last one I will have with my mom.”

Here are some three facts about the solar eclipse, Partial solar eclipses can be seen up to 3,000 miles from the "track" of totality. The maximum number of solar eclipses or it  is a new total eclipses 5 per year, and there are at least 2 solar eclipses per year somewhere on the Earth. Everyone in the continental U.S. will see at least a partial eclipse.According to Fred Whipple's book "Earth, Moon and Planets page ii,102-104, solar eclipses are fairly numerous, about 2-5 per year, but the area on the ground covered by totality is only a few miles wide. In any given location on Earth, a total eclipse happens only once every 360 years. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, casting the Moon's shadow on Earth. A solar eclipse can only happen during a New Moon. The Moon's orbit is tilted 5 degrees to Earth's orbit around the Sun.

Some people ask Do I need special glasses for eclipse viewing? Yes. Eclipse glasses are needed to protect your eyes if you want to look at the eclipse. Regular sunglasses aren't protective enough for eclipse viewing — even if you stack more than one.

It is very regular that a  particular spot on Earth witnesses a total solar eclipse only once in 400 years. This rarity is due to the precise alignment required, where the observer must be standing in the umbra, the darkest part of the shadow.
