Valentine's Day is around the corner (you know what that means!) The school dance is coming up! But is that enough time for students to relax and take a break from learning? No! Students are learning from math to science to ELA. Child-focus.com states, “Breaks give children a chance to academically reset and step away from the stress of schoolwork.” So why not solve that problem with a Valentine's Day party? Students will have a little break and have a fun time at school, two in one!

There will be a party for ALL students to enjoy! The party will include fun games including a Candy Relay, Heart bingo, Valentines Bowling, charades etc. ”Food and parties are always good in the morning.” Henry Norris says. There will also be a variety of food, candy and drinks.“I think that we should have cubbies that kids in their homeroom can make and by Valentine’s day we can open the cubbies and see the treats everyone got!” Alexa Smith, a 6th grader says. Instead of bringing or buying your food there will be an exciting meal you won’t want to miss out on. If they want, students can bring in their favorite candy to enjoy with their peers. Now you may be wondering where to go. Well it will be just like flex where you get to choose the room you want to have your fun celebration. (Just like always there will be a limit of students per room) And this party will be the WHOLE school day. The party will be a fun little break from school. And that brings me to my next reason.

Some candy that many people love to eat on Valentine's Day

Sometimes students need a little break. Edutopia says,”Regular, short breaks can help them focus, increase their productivity, and reduce their stress” This shows that sometimes students just need a little break. Even if it is for one day. This valentines day party would be a good break time where students can relax and have fun with their friends. KU news states, “Just one quality conversation with a friend boosts daily well-being” This proves that being with your friends helps you be a better person in general. Now you may be wondering why I am saying this. Some friends don’t have any classes together and lunch is only thirty minutes, so students don’t have enough time to socialize with their friends. However in the party you will get to spend the WHOLE day with your friends, not just thirty minutes.

According to a form 6.3% said no and 93.8 said yes. So what are students' opinions? 3 people said if there will be food that they would love it. Yes, there will be food. If you want to donate food you can. Norah Roberts says, “We don’t have enough fun anymore” I am sure there are many students that can agree to that. Mr Siglen says if teachers want to then they can. So what do you think? Should we celebrate Valentine’s Day at school? (fill out the form at the bottom of the page.

“Yes! It would be nice for all the students to let loose and love each other for who they are.” Miciah Hill, a 6th grader says. What she is saying is students would be together and have a fun time together. Students should have a Valentine’s Day party with many games, food and drinks. Also sometimes students just need a break and have a fun time with their friends. According to a poll 94.4% said yes to the party and 5.6% said no. These are all the reasons why students, teachers, and staff should have a Valentine’s Day party.

Happy Valentine's Day!
