Many of us have noticed the signs posted in the bathrooms around the school recently. With the notice of vape and noise detectors. Some of you may wonder about these. In this article we will explain the purposes and why vaping isn’t something you want to be involved in, especially at such a young age.

Mr. Siegelin and the school don’t necessarily  want to catch students, but are promoting students to not vape. “For us, it's always been about learning and doing the right thing so our goal is to cut down on the problem of vaping,” Mr. Siegelin stated. It is also a worldwide problem, so it isn’t just a problem for EJHS alone. The real reason for the vape detectors is for people to learn that you shouldn’t vape,  since it is a really bad habit to get into.

On Thursday, October 6th, 2022 the CDC found that 2.55 million U.S. middle school and high school students have used an E-Cigarette in the past 30 days. This study shows that almost 85% of the people surveyed used flavored E-cigarettes, most of the flavored vapes are also reusable making the problem worse. “With refillables, you have more e-liquid choices, and you can even mix and match flavors to create your own unique blend. Plus, in the long run, refillable vapes are much more cost-effective than disposables. “ says rioteliquid.com. So when you have refillable vapes you spend less money on them, you might continue vaping if you aren’t worried about money and getting new ones.

Vaping has gotten less noticeable because the people who make them hide them in many different ways. A lot of people will make vapes that look like USB drives, and other everyday objects. “Vape pens can easily hide in a student's pencil bag or backpack”, says the Addiction Preventive Clinic. Over the years not only has vaping gotten worse, people have gotten better at hiding them

Overall, vaping is bad because it can encourage bad habits, get people in trouble, and waste time and money that could be used on something else for school. Never be influenced by your friends to vape or smoke. Just because it’s a trend doesn’t mean that you should hop on it.
