There are lots of new teachers at Edgewood Junior High School this year. And one of these amazing new teachers here is the 7th grade Social Studies Teacher, Miss Schooling. She is replacing the Social Studies teacher from last year Ms. Epperson who was not only a teacher but also the leader of the Japanese club, Student Council, and Social Studies Academic Super Bowl. Ms. Epperson was definitely one of the favorite teachers at this school, along with many others, but now she has moved on. It is very sad to lose teachers, but it is also very exciting to get new ones! Miss Schooling, who went to Edgewood when she was younger, has come back to teach a whole new generation of students!

From kindergarten to 12th grade, and all the grades in between, she went to the Edgewood Corporation. She graduated from our own Edgewood High School in the year of 2018. Miss Schooling says, "When I came here in 6th grade at Edgewood Junior High-School, I had a wonderful experience!" She also says that this school has made her the person she is today. After going to college she had always wanted to come back home. She had wanted to be a teacher ever since she was 12-13 years old, but in high school one of her professors boosted her to continue and reach for that goal.

Miss Schooling went to Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. Indiana State University is not to far away from Ellettsville and offers over 100 undergraduate majors and more than 75 graduate and professional programs. ISU also has a beautiful campus.

Miss Schooling has wanted to be a teacher since she was twelve years old and she had a teacher in college that inspired he. When we asked her what advice she had for students who wanted to become teachers she said, “I would give them the advice, keep dreaming because it can happen. I sit here and think it still feels surreal to me that I went to four years of college and got my dream job. So, and this goes for anybody who wants any job, if they want to do it they have to work hard and put their mind to it, then they’ll achieve it one day!”

This year she has decided to help Coach Ayer coach Softball. Depending on how it goes she might continue with it next year. Mrs. Ayer says, "I'm really excited to have Coach Schooling joining our team this year. Her experience and enthusiasm for the game will be great for the girls!" In her free time she likes to read books. One of her favorite books of all time is Harry Potter. Only sometimes she likes to watch television at home. She says that she likes teaching here and in this community of students. Also, she said that she may want to teach another grade in the future. But never a different school other than here.!”

In conclusion, Miss Schooling is a great teacher! I believe that she will do an amazing job at Edgewood and make a positive impact on our school!
