C, O, L, T S, go, colts, go, is all you can hear as you walk down the hall towards the gym. But when you walk in, it’s a whole different story. You see the crowd cheering, the basketball players playing and then there's the cheerleaders. But if you look slightly to the right you will see Emma Warner chanting her cheers with a voice that is as fierce as a tiger's roar.

So I asked her and said it must be stressful, isn't it? “Sometimes it is, just like  when everyone is watching me, it's really stressful because if you mess up it's all overs,” said Emma in a voice that shows that she had been working out for the past hour.

Emma Warner is a sixth grade girl who loves to cheer at football and basketball games. She is a flyer, or “top girl',' and loves to do extension libs and aerobics. “I have made it this far because I tried and I wanted to be here and also my friends have helped me be here today,” Emma explains.

“It felt like forever before I finally got to cheer but I kind of did cheer before but it was like 1st grade school but I wanted to do either competitive cheer or school cheer for about 3 years,” mentions Emma. She also says, “I had a major setback when I hyperextended my arm while doing a back handspring.” She had a lot of inspiration for not only her family but her friends too. “There not only there when I need it but also when I don't need it but there always there,” Emma added.

Emma is a very persuasive person. She has been wanting to be a cheerleader for about 3 years, nagging her mom about every day to try to let her do cheer, and it finally paid off.  She realized she really wanted to do it at the age of 8, so, she did it. She is now on the 6 grade edgewood jr high cheer team but that's not where it had started.

She was introduced in 1st grade when she did something like school cheer. It was mainly like sitting on the side lines and maybe doing something like a small stunt but the real thing was introduced in 3rd grade when Alaina Felton and Josephine Buckley were doing cheer routines with everyone on the playground during recess. So she decided that when the time comes she will try out for the EJHS cheer team.

Then the news came and she MADE IT!!!! “That was the happiest day of my life. It was just perfect.” she knew that when she tried out she would make it she had the smile of a dentist and her motions she hit as stiff as a baseball bat but. Just like that it's already basketball season, “Look at how far I have made it.” murmurs Emma.
