Have you ever watched the movie Top Gun? What about the movie Top Gun: Maverick? Both are movies that feature Tom Cruise but there are many differences between the two. Top gun was a popular movie in 1986 but the new movie Top Gun: maverick was made just a year ago in 2022.
Top Gun is a 1986 American action film directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer. In this movie, Maverick confronts his past while training a group of younger Top Gun graduates, including the son of his best friend that passed away, for a dangerous mission.
Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie. The movie is a continuation of the film Top Gun.
Top Gun Maverick earned 1.493 billion dollars.

In Top Gun: Maverick, one of the Navy’s top aviators, Maverick is a test pilot for the Darkster program and he became “the fastest man alive” by proving he could break Mach 10. (10 flying at 10 times the speed of sound.) Maverick accomplished a record Mach 10.3 before his plane exploded. The critics were saying that Top Gun: Maverick is better than the original.

The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best train to refine their elite flying skills. When hotshot fighter pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) is sent to the school, his reckless attitude puts him at odds with the other pilots, especially the cool and collected Iceman (Val Kilmer). But Maverick isn't only competing to be the top fighter pilot, he's also fighting for the attention of his flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Lauren Martindale a 6th grader who goes to EJHS thinks that top gun is an amazing movie, "It is a good movie with an amazing storyline."

If you have watched both movies then you will see that both movies are similar with most of the same actors. They don't have the same storyline but they do go along with each other. Both films are effective in the action department, but they are both still really great movies to watch.
