Top 3 ice cream places

Everyone loves ice cream, but have you ever wondered what the best rating ice cream places are in Bloomington and Ellettsville? Now you get to know. Ice cream is a good summer treat. There are a lot of ice cream places in Bloomington and Ellettsville, but these are the best.



#1 Brusters

First we have Brusters, they were founded in 1989 by Bruce Reed whose passion for fresh high-quality food and stellar customer service runs deep. Bruce Reed was trying to find a complimentary business to open on the land adjacent to his family’s car hop restaurant. Bruce’s father, Jerry Reed, opened the legendary Jerry’s Curb Service in Bridgewater, PA in 1947 after completing a tour of service in the US Air Force. Brusters is known for a community staple where you can treat yourself, someone you love and share sweet memories along the way. Brusters flavors are Chocolate with Hershey’s special Dark, Purple Dinosaur, Coffee Oreo, Cotton Candy Explosion, and Birthday Cake. Jonah Siegelin says, “I like brusters because of all their different varieties of flavors.” Addilyn Christian says, ‘i like to get their freezes and I like their homemade ice cream.” 


#2 Chocolate mousse

Second we have The Chocolate Moose. The Chocolate Moose is a continuation of May’s Café, opened in 1933 by Cletus May after losing his manufacturing job during the Great Depression. Cletus and his wife, Elmsley, operated May’s Café for several years before deciding to downsize to an ice cream parlor due to the poor economy. Their eldest son, Doran, moved the parlor into the current Chocolate Moose building during the 1950’s and named it the Penguin. After closing down temporarily, it was reopened, this time as The Chocolate Moose, in 1983, and has operated continuously ever since. After changing ownership to Doran’s son, Tim, then to Jeff Grossnickle, Justin Loveless took over ownership and operation in 2013. The Chocolate Moose website says, “We take our ice cream seriously. Whether you want it in a cup, on a cone, mixed into a shake, or blended up with one of our many stir-ins, we want to make sure it exceeds your expectations.” KyvLynn Shipley says “I like chocolate moose and my favorite thing to get is the pineapple whip.”  Alaina Felton, says “ I like chocolate mousses espresso ice cream, I know Mrs noth’s daughter worked there.” 


#3 Jiffy Treat

Third we have Jiffy Treat, which was founded in 1948. Everyone has to love Jiffy Treat. It's one of the ice cream places with food and homemade ice cream. The owner of Jiffy Treat was the Reszka Family. Reszka grew up working at the family’s two ice cream shops in Bedford and Ellettsville. His father Ralph opened Bedford’s Jiffy Treet on 16th Street in 1983. He opened the Ellettsville store in 1974. Some ice cream flavors are Strawberry Cheesecake, Rocky Road, Bubble Gum, White House Cherry, Superman, and Kookie Monster. They also have seasonal ice cream flavors, like candy cane and pumpkin. Jaylin Thacker says, “I like Jiffy treat because it’s JIFFY, Also I like to get ice cream, The kind you eat!” Jiffy Treat is a good place to get homemade ice cream and food. They have a lot of interesting things.  Ethan Staggs says, "I like Jiffy treat because they are Jiffy and have treats.”
