Here goes GIANNIS… BOOOM!! A movie about a 6ft 11 2013 round 1 draft pick. GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO. The movie was talking about his childhood and his life before he was an NBA player.

Giannis when he was younger.

The movie is about how his mom and dad had to leave their home to go to Turkey then go to Greece.

That’s where he and his 4 brothers were born. He has 5 but the other one got left in their home town because he was just a baby when the dad and the mom left.

The 4 boys really loved soccer, and they all slept in the same bed because they didn’t have that much money.

One day they all went to the basketball courts to play soccer, but Giannis and Thanasis saw people playing basketball, and the people asked them if they wanted to play.

Then right there the boys fell in love with basketball. Now that they loved basketball they would sneak off to a free youth basketball camp to learn how to.

After they have been playing with the youth camp for a while. Some scouts would talk about them, and want them on their team. One game Thanasis broke his ankle and he wanted to go to the NBA but he couldn’t like this.

Giannis gets talked to when younger.

After all this practice, and all these games. Giannis finally got picked to be in the NBA draft, but they wouldn’t know if he would for sure be picked, and then all their stuff would be leaked about how there were immigrants and everything

. Then the second to last pick came the 16th pick, “The Milwaukee Bucks pick Giannis Antetokounmpo.” Him and his family were jumping up and down so excited.

Right there Giannis was going to be a basketball star.

Him and his brothers talking.

"One man scores, the whole team scores."

The movie was really good, the movie had really good features and acting. This is a good movie to just sit down with family and relax. The emotions that it brings to you is happiness, and a little sadness because of his childhood. Disney and Netflix have done really well with their basketball movies and documentaries, but just their  sports movies in general. There was a scene where Giannis didn’t really get the basketball stuff at first. Then he started practicing and practicing. He would even fall asleep in the gym everyday.

Then Giannis started getting really good. His brother was surprised by this. I liked this scene because it really brings out the basketball guy that’s in Giannis. There was another scene where Giannis kept trying to dunk but he could never get the ball in the hoop when he would try to dunk. So he kept running and running trying to get the ball in the hoop. Then one day he finally was able to dunk and get the ball in the hoop every time, even jumpers he could get, and everything started to go in and swish. I liked this scene because it really brought out how hard he would work to swish every shot, and every dunk.

Giannis dunking.

I think they could have done a little bit more in the movie. I feel like they could have made the movie go up to where he is now and how he is doing in the NBA. I think it needs to show his weaknesses he had when he was in his childhood, and his weaknesses now. To see if he still has the same weaknesses from his childhood to now in the NBA. If he gets scared or what he thinks before games, or maybe just during games. They could have gone  more into detail I think of like the last couple scenes, but after all the Rise was really good with everything in it and about it.

" We stick together, but sometimes we need to sacrifice for the family."

The movie cover.

The movie was really good, but it does throw some emotions in there that you wouldn’t think that you would use. The movie really was brought to life. It felt like you were kinda in the movie. It also just really brought the life and the game of basketball to life with this movie because these were some NBA players who grew up like he did. So it was a really good movie, and I recommend watching it.
