Tornado Destroys McCormick's Creek And Spencer

If you have heard, McCormick’s Creek was destroyed badly by a tornado. Two people were killed and two people were injured during the tornado. Today we will talk about the destruction in the Spencer/McCormicks creek  and how people were injured and even how some people passed away.

McCormick’s Creek is in Spencer, Indiana. Spencer was hit by a tornado causing Spencer to have a lot of damage. The tornado went through Spencer on March 31st, 2023 at exactly 11:01 pm and ended in Martinsville at 12:59 am. The tornado started at McCormick’s Creek state park and went North East. 2 people died and 2 people were injured. The Max width of the tornado was 400 yards. The wind miles per hour during the tornado were at 138 mph! Cameron Sessions said, “ It was very scary and windy. My younger brother was also scared.

The two people who were killed in the tornado were Brett and Wendy Kincaid. The couple was from Rossville, Indiana. Flowers now sit outside of McCormick’s Creek in memory of the couple. Brett was 53 and Wendy was 47. The reason they died was that the tornado came through and their camper flipped over. In Spencer, homes were badly damaged and trees were either blown down or snapped. More than 15 homes were damaged in Spencer, Indiana and 18 counties in Indiana lost power!

More than 28 million people were under the tornado warning. Some counties were under a Level 5 high-risk outlook for severe storms. Some studies showed that the campground looked completely flattened. Half the town in Spencer, Indiana lost power. There were around fifty people in the campground during the storm. Luckily they were transported to a little motel at the campground.  Only one person out of the fifty had minor injuries.

Around Indiana, five people were killed in total. But, we will be talking about three people who lost their lives. The people were, Brett Kincaid- 53, and Wendy Kinciad- 47, both were killed in their camper. Susan Kay Horton- 61. She died in Sullivan County. Brett and Wendy were together for 30 years. They loved their family and friends. They had two adult children and one grandson. Susan Kay Horton’s neighbor found out that Susan was missing. Many people including Nash Susan’s neighbor were looking for her. On Saturday she was found dead in her home. 

That was the story of the tornado in Spencer, Indiana, and many other counties in Indiana. I hope you guys stayed safe out there. Those poor people’s lives were sadly taken. I could imagine how their families are feeling now.
