Since 2022 June 28 (the last spaceship launch) there have been no other new trips to space. Well luckily there will be one very soon! NASA has announced that they are going to try to launch a new spacecraft in early to late November next year!

There were 4 new faces to spacecraft who were elected to take on this mission! Which include Christina Koch, Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman and (foreground) also a Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hanson! The goal for this mission is to aim the ship to the top of the moon for the first time in 50 years, establish a long term presence on the lunar surface to eventually put humans on Mars. "We have a lot to celebrate, and it's so much more than the four names that have been announced. We need to celebrate this moment in human history," said Glover, Artemis II's pilot, during a Monday morning event to announce the crew.

Artemis ll is more than a mission that has to happen before they send people to the surface of the Moon. It is the next step on the journey that gets humanity to Mars. Both Wiseman and Glover were both captains in the U.S. Navy and have both taken flights to the Internal Space station! Koch has been an engineer and a scientific field worker. She also holds the record for the longest flight as a woman. And last but not least Hason was a flight fighter in the Royal Canadian Air force.

This is the second phase of the Artemis program/project. The first Artemis program was last year that lasted 25 and a half days. The goal was to test the Artemis rocked with the spacecraft members ahead of time. NASA’s administrator Robert D. said, “after the Orion splashed down safely in December that the spacecraft performed "flawlessly" despite a few minor glitches.” The Artemis l program took many tries to launch after many malfunctions like Hydrogen leaks, as well like severe weather conditions. If all the tests go well NASA is planning on launching next year. With all 4 astronauts planning on doing a roughly 10 day mission going around the moon and back without landing on the lunar surface.

President biden even called NASA to say thanks for this mission and he was very proud of this mission. “The world just is, just holds their breath when things like this happen," Biden said. "And I know you know it, but the work you're doing is going to inspire countless people around our country and the world."

The final phase of the Artemis project, Artemis lll will plan on sending astronauts to the moon once again! Not until 2025 though, The last time astronauts walked on the moon was in 1972, Soon in 2024 or 2025!
