BOO! The Baseball World Series is almost here! People watch the most games they can, leading up to the WORLD SERIES. This is the MLB tournament's last series; they play best out of seven games until someone wins and takes home the trophy
The 1903 Boston Americans won the first World Series, five games to three, with a 3-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The weird thing was there was actually no World Series in 1904 because due to a business rivalry between the two leagues, especially in New York, and to personal malice between Giants manager John McGraw and American League president Ban Johnson, the Giants declined to meet the champions of the "junior" (or "minor") league. 1905 the New York Giants won against the Oakland Athletics (A’s), 1906 the White Sox took down the Cubs, 2 seasons in a row the Cubs beat the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers go on to lose their third World Series games in a close match up to the Pittsburgh Pirates with the final series
The World Series attracts 45,000 people to the stadium on average each year.
Score being 4-3 Pirates. 1915 the Boston Red Sox won the World Series and again in 1916 and again in 1918. The Red Sox won 5 times in the first 15 years of baseball but didn’t make it to the World Series again until 1946 and didn’t win again until 2004. The New York Yankees have the most World Series appearances at 40 and the closest team to that is the Brooklyn/ Los Angeles Dodgers. The New York Yankees also hold the record for most World Series wins at 27 and the closest team to that is the St. Louis Cardinals at 11. The only team to never make it to the World Series is the Seattle Mariners.
The World Series will be played October 27th-November 4. The World Series is between the DiamondBacks and the Rangers, Matthew Rouker says, “I think the Rangers will win because I feel the DiamondBacks got lucky in the postseason”.
