Kuchisake-onna

Hey! Haylee here, and i'm here to tell you about a Japanese Urban Legend, more specifically, The Slit Mouth Woman story. Also known as “Kuchisake-onna”, is a popular Japanese urban legend that goes something like this:

At night Kuchisake-onna, a Japanese onryō or vengeful spirit, is usually wearing a mask or a face covering of some sort and carrying a sharp object of sorts mainly scissors or a knife, will walk up to her victims and ask them a question. Then she will ask, “Watashi kirei?” which can translate to “Am I pretty” or “Am I beautiful?”. After this question there are many outcomes. If you respond “No” she will kill you on the spot. But if you respond “Yes”, Kuchisake will then remove the mask or face-covering, to reveal that her mouth is slit from ear to ear. She will repeat her question or “Kore demo?” meaning “Even Now” or “Even with this?”. Now if the person says no, or screams in fright, Kuchisake then will kill you. And if you respond “Yes” she will use her weapon to cut the same disfigurement of a slit mouth on the victim.  There have been said ways to not get killed. Running away is not that good of an idea, Kuchisake has been said to be fast, like supernaturally fast. And yet again, you will get killed. People say one thing is to throw either money or hard candies down. She’ll be busy picking up the stuff that was thrown, giving you time to run away. Another thing is to say “Pomade” three times. I’m not sure why this one works but hey, it does! That’s about all I got from the urban legend of Kuchisake-onna!

Hanako-San

The legend of Hanako-san is about a little girl possibly from the world war 2. She died from  playing hide and seek in her school and there was a bombing and the girl wasnt seen again some people think she died from murder, suicide, bullies.

Or the bombing but she died in the bathroom of her school. To summon Hanako-san you have to enter a girls restroom on the 3rd floor of the school knock 3 times on the 3rd stall and say “Hanako-san are you present?” if she is there she will reply with some form of “yes I am here”  witness the appearance of a bloody or ghostly hand;] the hand, or Hanako-san herself, may pull the individual into the toilet, which may lead to hell ;or the individual may be eaten by a three-headed lizard who claims that the individual was invading Hanako’s privacy.  Over all this legende is pretty scary. The even creepy-er thing about it is that hanako-san’s body was never discovered. To not get dead by Hanako-san always keep the restroom clean that's why teachers always remind you “keep the restroom clean” its because they are scared of Hanako-san, another way to avoid Hanako-san is by not knocking on the door and saying “ Hanako-san are you there?” One more way Have you ever wondered why some teachers use the buddy system when they send kids to the bathroom well that is why. Hanako-san hides in dirty-er school restrooms because she likely died in one that's why teachers tell you to keep the restrooms clean.
