{Friday the 13 is considered an unlucky day in western superstition}
There are many things people might consider bad luck. Like a black cat passing in front of someone or the hooting of an owl. But, in Western Superstition Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day. Some people might just consider it a lucky day because they know of the superstition. But what is the actual origin to this unfortunate day?
How Friday the 13th came to be an unlucky day is not exactly known. But it most likely comes from the Christian religion. In the Bible, when Jesus had his last supper the 13th guest was Judas, who betrayed Jesus. This later led to his crucifixion which was on a Friday. Some of these unfortunate Fridays even go further back before the crucifixion. In the Bible a lot of bad events happened on Fridays.

There is another reason why this day might be bad luck. It might just be because the number 13 is considered an unlucky number. Some people think that the number is unlucky because it comes after the number 12. 5 and 7 add 12 which are the numbers of life and good fortune. Some people may just not like 13 because of the superstitions behind it and all of the bad luck it is believed to have. There is even a phobia for the number 13 which is triskaidekaphobia, a general dislike of or the superstition regarding the number 13.
There have even been movies based off of this day. One of these movies is called Friday the 13th. This is an American horror movie. It is about a summer camp called Camp Crystal Lake that has a dark past. The movie follows a character named Jason Voorhees who had drowned in the camp's lake. There are multiple more movies about this character.
Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day for a lot of people. Whether the origin has to do with unfortunate Fridays or the unlucky number of 13 this day will still be one of the most unlucky days for people.
