Ghostbusters!

Avery Jackson & Michael Yearby                                                                                                            10/27/2023

Ghostbusters! Ghostbusters: Answer the Call came out in 2016, but sadly, not many people liked it because of its swearing and saying God’s name in vain. There are a few scares, and some curse words are spoken. It is rated PG-13 for supernatural action and some crude humor. This movie has a lot of girl power, and any mature 12-year-old would enjoy watching this movie if they like ghosts.

Common Sense Media rated this movie 3 stars and says the minimum age to watch should be 11. The ghosts spit out green goo, but there is no blood. Some scenes may be particularly scary, and may trigger the fear of ghosts or fear of paranormal beings. We would rate this movie 5/5. Randi Jackson watched the movie, and, after being asked how she liked it, said: “I enjoyed it a lot, so I’d give it four and a half stars.”

The rotten tomato rating for this movie was 74%. A fun fact about this movie is that it was filmed in many different towns in Manhattan, not just one specific place. The director of this movie was Paul Feig. He is 61 years old, and has directed other movies like “Last Christmas” and “The School for Good and Evil.” He also co-wrote the movie with Katie Dippold. He is married to Laurie Fig.

The ghosts in this movie include Gertrude Aldridge, who was left down in a basement to rot after killing her whole family in their sleep, and Rowan the Destructor, who is a giant version of the Ghostbusters logo and killed himself earlier in the movie. Rowan, as you can imagine, likes to destroy stuff, and tries to destroy the town. We do not know exactly what Gertrude was up to while all these things were happening, but what we do know is that she was a very bad person.

This movie is about four women, Abby, Erin, Jillian, and Patty, who build up teamwork and become determined to capture and study ghosts haunting their town.  They have an assistant named Kevin, who is a “dumb hunk,” as the movie states. Overall, it was a great movie, and Michael and I loved it. You should watch this movie if you’re ready to be spooked!
