Nerds Are Better!

Have you ever wondered about your Halloween candy? Do you sort it then eat or do you dump it all out then pick a random candy? There are so many candies in the world that you could choose from so we narrowed it down to the popular candy. Nerds v.s. Sour Patch Kids. Nerds versus Sour Patch Kids is an unanimous choice. Nerds for the win! Nerds are way better than Sour Patch Kids. Here’s why.

First of all, Nerds was invented in 1976 by David Klein and was produced under the Willy Wonka company. That is pretty cool because it is produced by people from a Roahld Dahl book!

Also, Nerds has a ton of flavors and has many different products including regular Nerds, Nerds ropes, and Nerds clusters. They all have the same flavors except that some of them are gummies! There was an attempt to create a Nerds cereal a few years later and that really took off. The cereal was nerd flavored corn puffs. Just like Nerds candy the cereal had two slots that can give you one flavor or the other!

Finally, the classic author Dr. Suess mentioned a creature called a “nerd” in “If I Ran a Zoo.” So when they created Nerds, they named them after the beloved children’s author’s book. Every child loves Dr. Suess, so they should love Nerds!

In conclusion, Nerds should be the ultimate candy and a part of everyday life. Sour Patch Kids are battling Nerds! Nerds are putting up a tough fight! Although we all know that sour patch kids come out on top. Some reasons are that they are both sour and sweet, it’s the top selling jelly candy in the nation, and they paid great attention to texture and detail. So for those reasons let's jump right in!

Apart from other candies, sour patch kids have a great mixture of flavors. They are both sour and sweet! This is because they found a way to make the candy have sour and sweet flavors touch the tongue all at once! A quote from Isabel Branam states, “Sour patch kids have more editions and kinds of flavors and you can savor it whereas nerds you take 2 handfuls and it's gone.”

Another reason is they are the top selling candy in the nation. The cause of this is because they are a very successful brand and apparently did not need very much time to be a popular treat around the world. It is also a great thing that they have lots of varieties of sour patch kids treats!

Finally they pay great attention to detail. They have great texture being stretchy but chewy. And the detail is great because it looks just like a kid, where the original idea came from Frank Galatolie for the candy company Jaret International.
