Originally my piece was going to be different forms of printmaking ,collaged, making one big piece. But due to this pandemic I didn't have access to such materials which caused me to completely scrap my original idea. What inspired me to create my new senior piece was ,essentially, this big change in our daily lives. I wanted to create a piece that would reflect a change in my growth as an artist. I wanted to step away from ,what one would say is, my traditional art style and create something different. I was inspired by Traditional Japanese art and Fauvism. In Traditional Japanese art, the paintings are more 2D which is what I wanted to incorporate in my piece.I focused more on the design aspects throughout the piece to convey an interesting landscape. The color choices were inspired and influenced by fauvism, incorporating varying solid bold colors throughout the piece.Overall, I am satisfied with my piece because it allowed me to branch out and try something different since I was given the chance.

Senior year is by far the best year despite the roller coaster I had to go through:). Senior year is the year to create new memories and enjoy time with your closest friends, maybe even branch out to new people. Senior year taught me to embrace the experience that comes with life and enjoy the little things.
Learn to appreciate and take advantage of what you have here in the visual department. You have amazing teachers to guide you in art and are always there for you when you need someone to talk to. Take advantage of the opportunities given to you and make the most out of each of them. Especially printmaking! It is such an expensive form of art and who knows if you'll have access to the same things in the future. Many of us have our ups and downs but don't let that stop you from creating and evolving. Something I wish I did sooner was to branch out and try new things with differing forms of art. Diverging from your typical art can allow you to figure out what you do and do not like.
Overall, senioritis is definitely going to hit you sooner or later. Make sure that you do not fall behind because you will regret it, trust me!!! I suggest that you start looking at colleges early on if you haven't yet. Also it wouldn't hurt you to search for scholarships because, ultimately, the more money the better right? Also don't let your grades define who you are , and definitely don’t compare yourself to anyone. Don't let not getting into certain colleges bring you down, they are the ones truly missing out. But it doesn't really matter where you go as long as you enjoy the path you take. Be you and stand out!
