For my senior piece I decided to do an intricate still life that included memorabilia from my years in high school. These items come from and or are symbols of a variety of places in which I spent a tremendous amount of time in which I matured as a person and grew character. Some of the places represented in this photo include of course school, my home, my temple, Israel, camp, the basketball court, as well as any place I might have been to that has helped me grow. (which is represented by the laptop in the background which I took almost everywhere I went during my high school years)
First Senior Blackout Day
First off, I would like to thank my friends for giving me laughs and memories that I will cherish for years to come. Whether it was driving to school every morning, getting called out for talking in class, getting hype for basketball games, going to the beach, going to the movies and so on. I am so glad I met the people I did and will try me best to keep in touch with all my close friends I've made throughout my high school career even if we end up at different ends of the country.
I would also like to thank all my teachers and coaches who have guided me throughout my high school years. Some of the teachers and coaches that I particularly would like to mention include Ms. Sheridan, Ms. Cleary, Coach Stohr, Coach Vaughn, Ms. Cleary, Ms. Glosmanova, Ms. Zietz, Ms. Brown, Mr. Johnston, Ms. Beermann and of course Ms. Reilly. I would go into detail on how each of these teachers or coaches had impacted my years but it would take up too much time and space so a shoutout will suffice.
Junior Year Pep Rally
Summer Before Senior Year
Basketball Seniors
Your senior year will blow by and before you know it you'll be writing this very letter for the class of 2022. So definitely enjoy it as much as you can because you never know when it might come to a sudden end as ours did due to Covid-19.
My senior year was hectic with applying and visiting many colleges as well as juggling honor societies, varsity basketball, and AP courses on top of me being a procrastinating champ. The best way to get through the year is to take it one day at a time, don't think about how much homework and tests you have in a given week because you will overwhelm yourself.
When it comes to advice I don't know where to start. First, get your apps in early and try to work on them during the summer. Senior year classes aren't that bad but when you put college apps into the mix it becomes a lot to handle so get them in as early as possible and school will become that much easier. Another word of advice is to try to not let assignments and homework pile up and try to do them when you get them because during senior year you never know when you might have to leave school to visit a college or interview with local admissions personnel.
Senior year can be very hectic causing you to be less focused on your art but this is understandable. That being said the biggest tip I have when it comes to producing art senior year is do something that you enjoy since it can be used as an escape from other senior year stresses. In addition, try new things, it's a great time to do so because you might never again have the same resources and endless support from your art teachers as we do.
When it comes to weekends get out of the house. School causes tons of stress so staying inside cooped up doing homework on weekends will make you feel miserable. It's not the end of the world if you finish an assignment late if it means you get to actually enjoy your much needed weekend. Other tips for this area is to try to branch out during senior year, meet someone new, hang out with a different group because you might not see some of your classmates ever again. Also, you never know who you might run into and knowing that extra person might mean one more familiar face in your future.
Best wishes,
