First Day of Junior Year
Dear class of 2020,
It makes me very sad to write this letter, only because I can't say any of this is a person. While we couldn't have the ending that we all deserve, hopefully, the next stage of our lives will make up for it. I hope that we all get to see each other again before our first high school reunion. I didn't think that March 13th would be the last time I saw you all. I have made countless memories in building nine, thanks to you guys and our teachers. You guys are exceptional and thinking about it; I will probably never meet people like you again.
Hopefully, people will remember the class of 2020 for what we did and not just COVID. I have known a lot of you since 6th grade, and not seeing you almost every day is weird and is going to be even weirder next year. I'm not sure who's actually going to go through and read this letter, but if you are, there's a good chance that I'll miss you.
I remember about two of you from my Bak audition, not going to say who because that would be weird. But that was in January 2013. Now it's May 2020. A time I NEVER thought would come, after realizing in Elementary school that we would be graduating in the most perfect year possible "2020" (chefs kiss). Unfortunately, 2020 proved to be the opposite of the perfect year. So thank you all for at least making the last seven years close to perfect.
Love,
Ella

Dear class of 2021,
The next year will definitely be a rough one. I'm not sure how much insight i will be able to give you as our year will hopefully not be the same as yours. The first semester was a blur of college applications and memories. And the second semester started off pretty strong So senior year will probably be good for you.
Reflecting on memories when I haven't seen my friends in weeks is very difficult. Senior year brought me closer to the visual department than I had ever imagined. The portfolio class will make you feel much connect, and introduce you to students you didn't even know existed. If you aren't placed with the teacher you wanted, you might have an even better time in a different class. You will probably struggle along side your peers this year, but also succeed together at the end hopefully. its definitely worth it at the end.
I highly recommend applying for as many scholarships as possible, especially the foundation ones if you are interested in fine arts. I am glad that I pushed through this year. It felt like there where two distinct intensity levels. It does calm down, and the harder you work at the beginning of the year the more rewarding it will be at the end. Hopefully you guys will get to enjoy what you are supposed to enjoy at the end of senior year, and all your hard work will be worth it.
Best wishes,
Ella Jacobs
