With my senior piece I knew I wanted again to incorporate my love for graphic art and design very similar to my previous pieces. To achieve the graphic, as well as painterly style I wanted to achieve I used a mix of acrylic paint, posca markers and linocut stamps. When I first began the piece I wanted to do an abstracted, graphic style self portrait, depicting several full body images of myself. However as I continued to work on it I instead painted figures and/or faces stemming from my subconscious, rather than using any particular references or subjects. I feel as though the painting is still in a sense an abstracted self portrait, as I tried to incorporate all of the things that I love to use in terms of visual art. My inspirations, same with my previous pieces, stem from certain graphic designers and album art, as well as surreal and expressionist painters.
I feel as though I have lived through several realities here. Like I seriously feel like I've been here forever. I find it so interesting that every ‘me’ from each school year in my head is distinct and different from one another, both in physical appearance and mental disposition. My visual ideals and aesthetic desires in terms of creating changed substantially every year and as corny as it sounds I learned what art truly means to me, which is everything. Whether positive or negative, without the experiences I've had at this school I wouldn't be who I am today which I am genuinely grateful for. Thank god for my hands and brain otherwise I would feel so worthless.

To the incoming seniors, even though it may seem you've run out of time you will still grow so so much this year (Hopefully) so do not worry or continue to compare yourself to others. Learn from every criticism and challenge yourself. Also don't fry your brain over your future, you are still changing so much and will continue to do so. Live in the moment, and enjoy it while you can. Truly. ✰✰✰
these are my friends I love them more than anything :)
