Acrylic paint on wood

I found that this year was the time to represent what was looked over. The charm of those who surround you. The architecture that was once someone’s idea brought to life. I’ve believed everything in a room had a story behind it. I want my work to invite listeners as much as I was invited to that story. So I depict scenes of my relatives, of people and their objects that have imprinted themselves on me. Through my work I hope to slow down time till all there is in a moment is the relationship between man and the natural world. How what started as wood and dirt becomes through people an installation of commonplace. The story I was invited into with this particular piece was that of a picturesque reconnection between generations. The young woman seated in the chair, my mother, who is learning of the life of her father as told by his brother. I was most appreciative of the patterns and colors that fall into place elaborately. The light leaks and brick detail by an unknown constructor combined with three estranged relatives catching up I found rich with significance. Certain scenes from life truly seem like installations of people and the world around them with the degree of artistry they contain, yet they are just the result of people living their daily lives. Senior year of highschool Is when I really developed my appreciation of this view. In that sense this year was one of the most rewarding and insightful years I’ve had.
Days running through the 6
Well, I didn't think it would end like this but if any year was bound to have a twist, it was 2020. I came to Dreyfoos a complete newbie to the art school wave and genuinely had doubts over whether or not It was for me. At this point I can't believe I even had doubts. Truly couldn't have pictured myself anywhere else. The environment while hectic at times, is one in which budding artist can be themselves while developing their styles, techniques, and skill sets. My art from freshman year vs now is a testimony to how far i've came. I barely knew what paint was back in them days and every wonderful teacher Iv'e had helped me pinpoint exactly how to grow and I would like to thank you for that.
Being in Mr.Armettas class for 3 years was the best. He essentially is the monk of Dreyfoos and I'd just be chilling and painting in that class. He also has jokes along with Ms.Ramos whose class I had the joy of being in for 2 years They really had me dead.
Uh shouts to Da boyzz Amber, Zaryah, Señor Martn, Vinnie senpai, Sasha and Sawyer. Myah clemons for putting up with me all these years. Along with Yazmineee Nico & Jessica for their generous support. Alan, Brandon, that lassie kassia, Angela, JT, Jose (aka the one that got away), Gio, you name it.

Angela and I toying with your perception and possibly universal dimensions cerca freshman year #4thwallbreakthrough?
Greetings. Alright so you are about to be a senior huh. This year is the year people around you are going to decide if they want to pursue art in the future or not. You definitely can always keep art as a side hustle of sorts but if your not feeling it for a future career and want to be an accountant or ghost hunter instead, go for it bud. That being said, if the idea of making art doesn't illicit traumatic flashbacks and you want to keep going with it, then this is what i'd advise you as a visual major. Well I'm glad I actually started submitting work to the different opportunities the faculty mentioned. It does open you up to different experiences and potential scholarships for college which is super important unless you don't want free money. I personally Wish I put more effort into some of my work and managed my time better because then i'd probably have a portfolio I'd be more confident in. Take part in events! They're actually pretty fun and hey you may just get a little gift from organizations. I once got a keychain. Colleges get hype when you've taken part in your community. The college fair Dreyfoos hosts is a solid way to learn more about what institution is the best fit for you. If your lost about where you want to go, then I'm going to have to recommend that bud. Just try and narrow down your options before the summer as exams will come up and you don't want to worry about college along with finals. Long story short, Senior year = crazy nerve racking. Your about to make a decision regarding your future that could very well impact the following course of your life but no pressure. That may sound like sarcasm and it is, but honestly it's not. It's a stressful time but you'll be okay. Life has funny a way of coming together as long as you haven't given up. And as long as you haven't been convicted of a serious criminal offense :)
