Falls-Lenox Primary School Newsletter
May 31, 2024
Dear Falls-Lenox Families,
As the school year is coming to a close, I want to thank all of our families for your support. It was a terrific year, and it is an honor to serve as your child's school principal. Our students have made so much growth academically, socially, and emotionally, and it is truly a joy to see how far they have come and all they can do! Good luck to our third graders as they enter the Intermediate School and beyond! We will look forward to seeing our incoming second and third graders in the fall! Parents of Falls -Lenox students will receive an email on or around August 14th with the name of your child's teacher for the new school year. We no longer post class lists for privacy/safety reason. Also, Open House/Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20th (1st grade 3:00 p.m.; 2nd grade 4:15 p.m.; 3rd grade 5:30 p.m.)
A special thank you to our PTA for organizing Field Day! It was beautiful day and the kids had a blast! From volunteering on Friday to the many donations we received, your help made the day go off without a hitch! I also want to thank our PTA for providing our third graders with T-Shirts, pizza, and popsicles for the Third Grade Picnic, which will take place on June 5th at 12:15 p.m. on the playground (weather permitting). Please enter through the front doors and check in with Officer Ketterer upon arrival. Students should bring a blanket or towel to sit on. Additional information for parents about the third grade picnic can be found below.
I am often asked what parents can do with their children over the summer, and the best thing you can do is have your child read! A child can grow an entire reading level by reading over the summer! The Olmsted Falls library will be starting its Summer Reading Program, which offers a great opportunity for children to earn incentives for reading and get to pick out new books by visiting the library! For more information about the Summer Reading Prgoram, please check out their website: https://cuyahogalibrary.org/srp. You can also find other summer learning resources in the newsletter below.
If your child has any medication in the clinic, please pick it up from the clinic by the end of the day on Wednesday, June 5th. If you are in need of additional assistance, the Falls-Lenox office will be open through June 14th 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. We will return in early August for the new school year.
If at any time you have questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact our main office at (440) 427-6400. Thank you to all of our families for all of your support and for a great school year! We appreciate everything that you do for our students and school community! I hope that everyone has a safe and fun summer!
With Gratitude,
Ms. Williams
FL Principal

Change in Transportation for the 24-25 School Year - Please complete by June 15, 2024
The deadline to submit Alternate Transportation Requests for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year is Saturday, June 15th. The OFCS Transportation Department uses an online Alternate Transportation Request Form. A link to this form can be found at the end of this email as well as on the Transportation page of the district website.
If you have any questions or need assistance completing the online form, please contact the OFCS Transportation Department at (440) 427-6350.
ABOUT OFCS ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS
Who Needs One? What is the deadline to submit?
An Alternate Transportation Request form is FOR ANY STUDENT WHO WILL REQUIRE TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS OTHER THAN FROM THE BUS STOP ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR HOME ADDRESS. Alternate Transportation Requests must be submitted annually for each child BY JUNE 15TH for the upcoming school year. Please Note: Students planning to ride the school bus to and from their home residence each school day DO NOT need to complete this form.
If you have a student who falls into any of the categories below - INCLUDING CAR RIDERS - please plan to complete an Alternate Transportation Request online by Saturday, June 15th:
(1) Students in grades PreK-12 with a SINGLE, DESIGNATED ALTERNATE LOCATION FOR PICK UP AND DROP OFF
(2) Students in grades PreK-12 using OUTSIDE TRANSPORTATION OR ESCORTED BY LOCAL DAY CARE CENTER FACILITIES IN EITHER A.M. OR P.M., OR BOTH A.M./P.M. — INCLUDING OLMSTED COMMUNITY OUTREACH (OCO) PROGRAM
(3) CAR RIDERS: For students in grades PreK-8 only who will be DROPPED OFF/PICKED UP DAILY BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN OR OTHER DESIGNATED ADULT IN EITHER A.M. OR P.M., OR BOTH A.M./P.M. (PLEASE NOTE: Advising OFCS Transportation of student car rider status helps maximize efficiency of bus routing. Individual school buildings may still have an additional required form to coordinate dismissal of car riders at the building level.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Alternate Transportation arrangements are effective for ALL SCHOOL DAYS. Requests for different arrangements on different days of the week cannot be accommodated.

Children should enter/exit vehicles on the passenger side (directly near the sidewalk) only.
Please pull all the way forward to the white sign that says, "pull up here", so that we can keep the line moving.
Parents and Caregivers should remain in their vehicles.
Please exercise caution and drive slowly when pulling around cars that are loading/unloading to ensure the lane is clear.
