October 6, 2023
Dear Falls-Lenox Families,
I hope that everyone is having a great week! Second graders enjoyed their field trip to Hale Farm this week; it was a beautiful day! Staff spent time today collaborating on instructional strategies to meet the needs of all of our learners in reading.
The ECC/FL PTA Fundraiser is in progress. Thank you to those of you who have already registered your child. If you haven't done so, the registration directions can be found below. The fundraiser links with our PBIS program and encourages students to do acts of kindness.
If your child qualified for Title One Reading Tutoring, and you were unable to attend the Parent Open House, you can find the google slide presentation that was shared linked below.
Lastly, there is no school next Friday, October 13th for staff and students.
Please check out the "Community Connections" tab for information about community actvities and events for kids!
If at any time you have questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact our main office at (440) 427-6400.

With family-teacher conferences fast approaching, now is the perfect time to take a peek at what your student has been working on so far this year! While you’re in the Journal, you can also comment on your child’s Seesaw posts!
ECC/FL PTA Fundraising through Kindness Raise Craze
The ECC/FL fundraiser will run from September 25 - October 20, 2023. Students will be paying it forward through acts of kindness aligned with our PBIS Program and participating/winning prizes at the classroom level (No individual prized for most pledges/dollars raised, etc.). This will allow all students to participate and for the class to work collaboratively, as they show kindness. Please see below to register your child!
RAISE CRAZE (GOAL: $25,000 // DATES: Sept. 25 – Oct. 20) -- We’ve gotten a few questions and I wanted to quickly address them here. Money from this fundraiser will cover the cost of this school year’s FLECC PTA activities (i.e. field trips, family engagement events, field day, etc.)
1. Students will be participating in the fundraiser as a classroom, but it requires each individual student to at least register on the Raise Craze site and, ideally, send at least one email to a potential donor. (Hint: the email can even go to yourself)
a. You can register your student(s) here: my.raisecraze.com/AWJWRUK
2. Review the list of Acts of Kindness (AOKs) with your student(s) and identify 3+ they are aiming to complete over the course of the fundraiser.
3. As AOKs are completed, log into your student(s)’ page and check off what they’ve done. You an even add AOKs not on the list.
4. Classroom teachers will receive updates on how their classroom Bingo Cards are filling up and will share with the class when incentives are reached!
a. They could win: Game Day/Free Choice Time; Mystery Reader; PJ Day; Popcorn party and the highly coveted prize of extra recess!! (see attached)
5. The fundraiser information flyer that was sent home with your student has also been posted to our Givebacks site: https://fleccpta.memberhub.com/public/uploads/f163721e-ae17-4c45-ae43-d959f825f1db
CHARLESTON WRAP (DATES: Now – Oct. 31)
FLECC PTA has used Charleston Wrap the past few years for their Fall fundraiser. With the shift from selling items to completing acts of kindness, we wanted to still make Charleston Wrap available to those who were looking forward to placing an order. Our shopping link will be live through October 31.

“Screens and Social Media: Helping Your Teen Develop Safe and Healthy Practices”
Dear Bulldog Parents and Caregivers,
It’s not easy being the parent of a young person with an internet connection. You may have frequent battles about screen time, worries about social media, and questions about how it all impacts your child’s well-being. There are also some positive aspects of social media for young people who use it to connect with friends and explore new interests. It’s a tug-of-war sometimes, and often we end up dropping our side of the rope entirely and just hoping that it will all turn out okay.
While it’s understandable to want to hope for the best, hope is not necessarily a great strategy when parenting in the age of 24/7 internet access. Fortunately, we are here to help. Join Olmsted Falls High School and the LINK Family Engagement Program for an engaging and informative presentation for parents and caregivers featuring pediatric psychologist Dr. Meghan Barlow. “Screens and Social Media: Helping Your Teen Develop Safe and Healthy Practices” will take place on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00 PM at Olmsted Falls High School. Please click HERE to register or scan the QR code below.
Bring a friend and take advantage of this opportunity to add some extra tools to your tool-box that will help you manage this challenging aspect of parenting.
Sincerely,
Julianne Allen
