Dear Falls-Lenox Families,

Our first PTA meeting of the year is Tuesday, September 26th at 6:30 p.m. in the Falls-Lenox Cafeteria.   I will give an update on the latest happenings at Falls-Lenox, and a teacher from each grade level will give an update on what students are learning about.  We hope to see you there!

This afternoon we hosted our first "Pawsitive Peer Group" with all of our students who are new to the school.   It was a great group of students, and we discussed their first few weeks of school, making new friends, and what we can do to ensure they continue to have a good school year!

• October 31st - Halloween Parade and Parties - 1:15 p.m., Students dress in their Halloween costumes!

• November 16th and 20th 3-7p.m. - Parent - Teacher Conferences; A sign-up will be forthcoming.

ECC/FL PTA Fundraising through Kindness Raise Craze

The ECC/FL fundraiser will run from September 25 - October 20, 2023. Students will be paying it forward through acts of kindness aligned with our PBIS Program and participating/winning prizes at the classroom level (No individual prized for most pledges/dollars raised, etc.). This will allow all students to participate and for the class to work collaboratively, as they show kindness.  Please see below to register your child!

Internet Safety and Social Media Parent Program

Start with Hello!  Lessons in September

Mrs. Scott, our School Psychologist, will be doing classroom lessons in September to all first-grade classrooms on "Start with Hello." This program is designed to increase young students abilities to recognize loneliness and social isolation, teaching them how to use effective strategies to reach out and help peers, and working on ways to help grow an empathetic and inclusive community.  There will also be several brief videos shown on morning show in the following weeks for all grade levels on the topic.

School Times:

School Day:  8:00-2:35

Tardy Bell:  7:55 a.m. (Students must be in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. Students entering classrooms after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy.)

Office Hours:  7:30-3:30 (You can leave a message after 3:30 p.m.)

Note: If your child is a car-rider, doors open at 7:35 a.m. and are open until 7:55 a.m.  The side doors are locked at 7:55 a.m.  If your child is coming to school after 7:55 a.m., they will need to enter through the front doors.  If your child plans to eat breakfast, please have them at school by 7:45.  Students cannot enter prior to 7:35 am.

School Fees:

Grades 1-2:  $90.00 Total

Grade 3: has an additional $25 for a Chromebook Device fee

$7.00 - Art supplies

$16.00 - Field Trips/activities

$25.00 - Technology (Reading A-Z, RAZ Kids, SeeSaw, Compass Learning)

$42.00 - Instructional (Bridges Math Workbook, Science Fusion Workbook, Handwriting workbook, Scholastic News, etc.)

Questions to ask your child about their school day, instead of "How was school"?

1. What made your smile today?

2. Who did you sit with a lunch?

3. If you could change one thing about today, what would that be?

4. What was the hardest rule to follow today?

5. Tell me something you know today that you didn't know yesterday.

6. What did you learn today?  What did you enjoy learning the most today?

7. Tell me what you are writing about during writing workshop.

8. Tell me about a book you read or was read to you today.

Clinic Updates -  Please do not send your child to school with a fever, diarrhea, or more than 2 of the following symptoms:  cough, shortness of breath, chills, fever, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea.  Students cannot return to school after a fever or diarrhea until they have gone 24 hours symptoms free (without tylenol for a fever).  Call off your child using our attendance line:  440-427-6411.
