Dear Falls-Lenox Families,
The spirit week days are as follows:
Tuesday: Tie Dye Day- Embrace uniqueness
Wednesday: Neon Day- Highlight what we can do
Thursday: Favorite Color Day- Embrace neurodiversity
Friday: Bulldog/Helping Hands Day- Overall inclusion
We are also excited to announce that in partnership with the ECC/FL PTA, we are bringing in a local author for assemblies during Right to Read Week in March! If you would like to pre-order one of her books, you can do so by February 5th. Students will then have an opportunity to have their book signed by the author when she visits! Pre-order book information from PTA can be found in the newsletter below!
We have brought back our lunchroom helpers! The link to sign up to be a lunchroom helper can be found HERE - Falls-Lenox Lunchroom Volunteers. The new lunch menu can also be found below. Check out the "Community Connections" tab for information about community actvities and events for kids! Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break. It has been great to see the students back this week and hear about their winter break, as well as their goals for the second half of the school year. As we move into January, our new word of the month is "Compassion". In conjuction with Disability Awareness Week and Martin Luther King Day, students learn how showing compassion makes the world a better place.
Over the next couple weeks, teachers will be completing winter reading assessments with each student. Starting next week, students will also be taking the MAP Test for Reading and Math. Both the DRA and MAP Test provide our teachers with valuable information on the achievement and growth of each student. We use this information to provide targeted, small group intervention and inform classroom instruction. Results of these assessments will be sent home to families once they are completed.
The week of January 15th-19th will be the annual “Celebrating Differences/Disability Awareness Week”. In addition to building-wide activities, we will have the Cleveland Wheelchair Cavs Assembly on Friday, January 26th! The Wheelchair Cavaliers visit local schools and hospitals to talk about overcoming disabilities and feeling empowered. They also perform for 20,000 fans at Cleveland Cavaliers halftime shows their finesse in ball handling and hitting 3-pointers.
If at any time you have questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact our main office at (440) 427-6400.
Sincerely,
Ms. Lisa M. Williams
Falls-Lenox Principal
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed that acts of service were the great equalizer. “Everybody can be great,” he noted, “because everybody can serve.” That’s why Dr. King’s wife, Coretta Scott King, once said that “the greatest birthday gift my husband could receive is if people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds celebrated the day by performing individual acts of kindness through service to others.” Forbes Magazine
Car Riders: If you bring your child to school in the morning, please leave a space in the line by Kids First, so that cars are able to get through and exit. We have had a few parents who are dropping their kids off at Kids First get blocked in. Thank you!
