Dear Falls-Lenox Families,

It was a great Celebrating Differences week in Olmsted Falls, as we recognize and celebrate that everyone is different and has special and unique attributes!  There is still time to enter the Poster/Essay Contest!  Entries are due by January 31st.  More information can be found in the letter linked below.

February is going to be an exciting month, as we will be starting our One School, One Book read aloud of the book Wishtree by Katherine Applegate on Monday, February 8th.  More information about our "One School, One Book" and the book will be sent out next week.   We will also be celebrating Black History Month, Valentine's Day on February 14th, and Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 16th.  The month will conclude with Right to Read Week the week of Feb. 27th. More information about Right to Read Week will be forthcoming.

Our new word of the month for February is "Cooperation".  We teach students the value and importance of collaboration and working together as a team.  We also teach students that it is important to work effectively and respectfully within diverse teams. 

Lunch Accounts - A friendly reminder to check your student's lunch account.  This can be done through EZPay.

School Times:

School Day:  8:00-2:35

Tardy Bell:  7:55 a.m. (Students must be in their classrooms by 8:00 a.m. Students entering classrooms after 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy.)

Office Hours:  7:30-3:30 (You can leave a message after 3:30 p.m.)

Note: If your child is a car-rider, doors open at 7:35 a.m. and are open until 7:55 a.m.  The side doors are locked at 7:55 a.m.  If your child is coming to school after 7:55 a.m., they will need to enter through the front doors.  If your child plans to eat breakfast, please have them at school by 7:45.  Students cannot enter prior to 7:35 am.

School Fees:

Grades 1-2:  $90.00 Total

Grade 3: has an additional $25 for a Chromebook Device fee

$7.00 - Art supplies

$16.00 - Field Trips/activities

$25.00 - Technology (Reading A-Z, RAZ Kids, SeeSaw, Compass Learning)

$42.00 - Instructional (Bridges Math Workbook, Science Fusion Workbook, Handwriting workbook, Scholastic News, etc.)

Questions to ask your child about their school day, instead of "How was school"?

1. What made your smile today?

2. Who did you sit with a lunch?

3. If you could change one thing about today, what would that be?

4. What was the hardest rule to follow today?

5. Tell me something you know today that you didn't know yesterday.

6. What did you learn today?  What did you enjoy learning the most today?

7. Tell me what you are writing about during writing workshop.

8. Tell me about a book you read or was read to you today.

Clinic Updates -  Please do not send your child to school with a fever, diarrhea, or more than 2 of the following symptoms:  cough, shortness of breath, chills, fever, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea.  Students cannot return to school after a fever or diarrhea until they have gone 24 hours symptoms free.  If your child is identified as a close contact, please monitor for symptoms.  Call off your child using our attendance line:  440-427-6411.
