Salary seniority and certificate of apprenticeship (fagbrev)
For employees in Norway
For employees in Norway
Your seniority date indicates your years of experience in Oda. Normally, this date will be the same as your hire date in Oda. If you are hourly paid and on the wage table it is also possible to get relevant previous work experience approved as seniority. It is your own responsibility to document previous work experience. If you deliver the right documentation within 3 months after your hire date, you will receive a salary update backdated. If you deliver it after 3 months, your salary will be updated from the day you delivered the documentation.
You will need to send certificates (attest) to your leader who can than add the updated seniority date and documentation to Workday. This will then be sent to the People team for approval.
A valid certificate (attest) for previous work experience contains:
Time period for employment (start date - end date)
Work percentage and type of work
Work tasks
Signature, stamp and date
Employment contracts, learning contracts and pay-check is not valid documentation. We only accept certificates in Norwegian and English.
If you have served mandatory military service in Norway, this will also be counted as your seniority as long as Oda is your first workplace after the service is completed. To get this approved you need to send a confirmation of military service/civil duty (proof of service, not mini criminal record)
Pay seniority may be accounted at the earliest from the age of 18
The basic agreement for accounted pay seniority from previous work experience describes that the employee has had a committed employment with set working hours.
There is a difference in full-time and part-time employment
The work experience must be relevant for your newly given role and must obtain the same work tasks
There will not be accounted for several employments from the same time period. For example, if you have had two jobs at the same time you will not get double pay seniority.
When assessing seniority for roles with personnel responsibility (Operating Manager and Team Leader), previous personnel responsibility and work experience in a comparable industry can be included in the assessment.
Salary seniority is not earned during unpaid leave. The only exception of this is when you have used the unpaid leave for services that provide a basis for salary seniority, i.e. work in the public.
Unpaid parental leave up to 1 year and leave for mandatory military service are exceptions to this rule.
