For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with a data set about where natural disasters happened around the world in 1990. The source for this data set is from International Monetary Fund (IMF).
I decided to work with this dataset because I am curious about how the climate has been affected by natural disasters, and where they happen the most.
In my visualization, the data is represented as dots on a map.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over the dots with the mouse pointer.
Number of Natural Disasters in 1990 (Around the World)
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that countries closer to water get more disasters.
Something I still wonder about is how a huge country like Canada or Russia didn't have any disasters.
The most challenging moment of this project was cleaning and importing data
If I had more time, I would like to make the map and the interactive feature look better
My proudest moment during this project was when I finally got the code to work.
