endangered languages around the world

For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with data about extinct languages.

I decided to work with this dataset because it piqued my interest. I enjoy learning about languages and the world so this caught my eye.

In my visualization, the data is represented as points on the bubble chart.

To interact with the visualization, try hovering on each point.

One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that there are so many obscure languages that are endangered.

Something I still wonder about is are these endangered languages being taught anywhere? are there dedicated organizations protecting these?

The most challenging moment of this project was getting my visualization to display the text nicely. it kept breaking.

If I had more time, I would like to add more dropdown menus after you hover on the dots. i would add more information there.

My proudest moment during this project was when i was able to make it look aesthetically pleasing with all the shades of blue.
