How much beef is consumed around the world?
For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with the meat consumption data set. I specifically focused on the data related to beef.
I decided to work with this dataset because I wanted to visualize how much beef was consumed in different countries, which showed patterns of what people ate in certain places.
In my visualization, the data is represented as dots of varying sizes and shades of red. Each dot represents the average amount of beef consumed between 2018 and 2029 in that country (future years are predicted). The larger and redder the dot, the more beef was consumed.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over the dots to find the average amount of beef consumed. You can also click on the dots.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that the consumption of beef in countries in North and South America tended to be higher.
While I didn't spend too much time looking through the full meat consumption data set, I wonder what types of meat are most consumed overall, and what the most popular meat per continent is.
The most challenging moment of this project was organizing and cleaning my data in Google Sheets.
If I had more time, I would like to represent more than one type of meat.
My proudest moment during this project was when I learned how to add hyperlinks to my project.
