Data Visualization Project
For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with the dataset Who Eats the Food We Grow?. The product represented in each country is the one that they produce the most of.
I decided to work with this dataset because I enjoy learning about how one country's produce relates to another country's.
In my visualization, the data is represented as a map, with different points on each country.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over a country's circle and clicking on it.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that countries near each other often have the same main product. I think that this is because countries near each other have similar landscapes, in which certain products thrive, and others not as much.
Something I still wonder about is why cereal is such a common product, and why things such as fruits are so rare.
The most challenging moment of this project was getting the interactive clicking element of the map to work, and making the exit button.
If I had more time, I would like to add animations instead of just still images.
My proudest moment during this project was when the exit button finally worked and all of the interactive elements moved seamlessly together.
