For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with a massive Fantasy Football dataset that calculates everything from yards to fumbles that turned into turnovers.
I decided to work with this dataset because as of right now, I play fantasy football religiously and thought it would be cool to visualize it for fun.
In my visualization, the data is represented as dots on the canvas with the further right it goes the older they are and the further down you go the more fantasy points they scored.
To interact with the visualization, you can hover over peoples dots to show their name and stats, along with which year that certain points was scored. You can also search up a player name (has to be with adequate capitals) and it will highlight the certain dots that are there.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is the gap between good players and superstars is massive. the entire dataset features 3000+ dots, but there are probably 100 dots beyond the 250 point mark, spaced out between probabally 40 different players throughout their career.
Something I still wonder about is what maters more in a player, touchdown volume, reception volume, or yards, when you want the most efficent scoring fantasy player.
The most challenging moment of this project was probably getting the interactive to work.
If I had more time, I would like to make a popup window that could show a graph or something.
My proudest moment during this project was when I finally got my search function working
