For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with a data set describing locations of crimes in Chicago as well as what those crimes were, as well as a lot of other information that I didn't end up losing that are ways for police to describe the location.
I decided to work with this dataset because I thought it would be an interesting topic as crimes I would expect to have a large variety of results even if the mode of all the results was one crime and there was a lot of that crime.
In my visualization, the data is represented as location and what the crime is.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over each dot.
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that google sheets is very weak in terms of how many rows it can have, as well as the fact that I underestimated how many crimes happened from 2001-to now.
Something I still wonder about is what is a better sheet cite so I can fit all the rows.
The most challenging moment of this project was getting there to be enough spread without breaking google sheets.
If I had more time, I would like to change my topic
My proudest moment during this project was when I finished the project pretty easily after I figured out how to finally fit a good amount of data points in without breaking google sheets, numbers, and p5.js.Â
