For my final data visualization project, I chose to work with the Who Eats the Food we Grow dataset
I decided to work with this dataset because I thought it was a very interesting dataset. It also had a lot of data on it, and I thought it would be fun to play around with that.
In my visualization, the data is represented as a map, where hovering over a country shows a chart of wheat, rice, sugar, and fish consumption by year.
To interact with the visualization, try hovering over a country, or
One interesting thing I noticed during this project is that wheat is usally the highest produced item out of these four.
Something I still wonder about is why that is true even for some coastal countries.
The most challenging moment of this project was when I was trying to get my chart working, and I couldn't figure out how.
If I had more time, I would like to fix the map covering the chart when dragged. I also want to make it so that the buttons will show a chloroplast map.
My proudest moment during this project was when I managed to get the map working, and make it hover and drag.
