1. Kochi Biennale

Description: The Kochi biennale is an art festival that happens every two years. It is an international exhibition of contemporary art held in Kochi

Format: Open contemporary art exhibition spread over the entire area of Fort Kochi. Comprises of Murals, art installations revolving around a theme.

2. St+Art Festival

Description: The St+art India Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that works on art projects in public spaces.

Format: Open public spaces converted into art murals and experiences. The concept is city-wise and regional artists collaborate and paint.

Unique value offering: The aim of the foundation is to make art accessible to a wider audience by taking it out of the conventional gallery space and embedding it within the cities we live in - making art truly democratic and for everyone.


3. Hunar Haat

Description: The Hunar Haat is a platform for artisans/craftsmen and culinary experts from across the country to showcase and market their handmade, rare, exquisite indigenous products.

Format: The 'Hunar Haat' is organized by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs in various cities. It's a one place mela for all arts and handicrafts

  • The Hunar Haat initiative of the government will give a platform to artisans across India to showcase and sell their collections through the stalls at the fair.

  • Hunar Haats have proved to be empowerment and employment exchange platforms for master artisans and craftsmen.

4. Delhi, Bangalore International Art festivals

Description: India Art Festival is a Contemporary Art Fair, is the biggest art fair hosted annually at three metro cities, Bengaluru, New Delhi and Mumbai

Format: It brings art viewing and buying by from unapproachable gallery spaces to a more open exhibition space meant for art

Unique value offering: IAF aims to provide a cultural bridge between Indian artists, art galleries, art collectors and connoisseurs, with an objective to create a dialogue that would introduce a fresh perspective and buoyancy among passion investors and art collectors.


5. Delhi Haat events

Description: Dilli Haat is a paid-entrance open-air food plaza and craft bazaar located in Delhi, run by Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation. Unlike the traditional weekly market, the village Haat, Dilli Haat is permanent

Format: It is an exhibition and sale space for indigenous arts and crafts accompanied by music and food

  • Dilli Haat was established to provide a platform to craftsmen all over the country who were otherwise limited to their villages & towns

  • The purpose was to get rid of the middlemen and let artisan sell their products directly to Indian & foreign buyers.

  • There are fixed stalls representing many states.


6. Margazhi music festival, Chennai

Description: Chennai Music Season is an event hosted every Mid November–January in Chennai. Spanning some 9 weeks, it comprises top-flight professional and amateur musicians

Format: It’s one-stop for classical music artists around the world get a chance to showcase their talent. More than 500 organisations put up over 2,000 music/dance and theatre performances in the city.

  • The December music festival season in Chennai is part of the city’s DNA and gives it an identity. And its a lot more than a few ‘sabhas’ hosting some singers, it is a wholesome social and cultural experience
