Personal Leave

Every full-time teaching faculty member will be granted up to two (2) full days of leave per year to be used for personal reasons. The employee will not be required to state the reason for taking such leave, beyond declaring that it is personal.

Under the following conditions, two (2) days of paid leave may be granted annually to an employee for personal reasons which require the employee's personal attention during school hours:


    • A leave request shall be made at least five (5) days in advance. Requests for such leave made less than five (5) days will be considered but may be denied. Leave requests are submitted using the Absence Request form in E-Trieve | Forms.

    • Appropriate lesson plans have been prepared and delivered to the faculty’s dean or designee prior to the leave date. Including options for coverage if necessary.

    • This leave is not transferable, and will not be deducted from disability leave.

    • Personal days are allocated at the beginning of the academic year and do not rollover from year to year.

    • The use of Personal Leave will not be limited, except under the following circumstances:


1.) Availability of Substitutes.

When a substitute is necessary for delivery of lecture/ lab and an appropriate one can not be found.

2.) Exceptions

This leave will not be granted during the first ten (10) or the last ten (10) work days of the

semester, nor the first work day prior to or after a school vacation or holiday. Leave can also not be taken during all-college day or designated faculty workshop days. However, in extraordinary circumstances, an employee may request the dean/designee to grant personal leave beyond these conditions.
