The Quality Faculty Plan professional development sub-committee facilitates the creation and offering of annual professional development opportunities in conjunction with other College groups. Attendance to workshop week activities is mandatory for all full-time faculty. The Quality Faculty Plan Credentialing committee approves CEU’s for college offerings and individual requests.
The college's News Hub offers links to a repository of previously offered trainings and also provides a calendar of upcoming events that faculty are able to participate in.
Faculty who wish to attend professional conferences, etc., may request funding through an application process. The Faculty Development Form can be found on E-Trieve | Forms | Conference/Meeting Request.
Faculty can track the status of their credentialing using the CEU Tracking Hub within Brightspace. Questions related to your credentialing status can be sent to hr@nicc.edu.
In 2024, the College entered into a partnership with the American Colleges and Universities (ACUE) to offer faculty the opportunity to obtain an “Effective Teaching Practices” certification. Annually, three faculty are selected to participate in a cohort to complete the following four courses:
Inspiring Inquiry Fostering a Culture of Lifelong Learning
Promoting Active Learning
Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment
Designing Learner-Centered Teaching for Equitable Outcomes
Each course is asynchronous and built to be flexible to accommodate faculty schedules. Interested faculty should contact the Vice President of Teaching and Learning office.
More information about ACUE and the courses can be found on the ACUE website.
